1. Ancient Civilizations (c. 4000 BCE - 500 CE)

- Indus Valley Civilization (c. 2500 BCE): Cities like Mohenjo-daro and Harappa had advanced drainage systems, including covered sewers and public baths.
- Ancient Egypt (c. 2000 BCE): Used simple drainage and clay pipes for waste disposal.
